EBAY question- When a seller says "must have insurance to buy item" what's that mean & how do I get insurance?

  1. It's protection for the seller.

    You wouldn't believe how many people 'buy' stuff on eBay, get the item, then claim that it was lost in the mail and refuse to pay for it.  

    Shipping Insurance that you the buyer pays for allows you to get your money back from the insurer (not the seller) so that nobody loses out if indeed something is really lost in the mail.


  2. They mean they won't ship it to you unless you pay for shipping insurance. It is usually factored into the shipping cost calculator.

  3. Email the seller.  They most likely mean, you have to buy shipping insurance.
