Question:

EBay Refund?

I sold a promo code on eBay to get a Sidekick LX for 50 dollars or a Slide for free. The person that won thought it was for the actual phone itself. Now they want a refund. I sold it for 150 dollars. I am kinda OK with giving them a refund.

Should I give them a refund or not?

I said it COMPLETELY CLEAR in the description that it wasn't for the phone but a code. I kinda understand because the guy said that his son had told him about "This really cheap brand new Sidekick LX." and the dad just gave his son his credit card and had him bid. He said he wished they would've discussed it and went through the item description but they didn't.

So should I give them the refund or not?

  1. Give him the refund, i hate when people rip me off... Even though you stated it was a code, idk.. this is hard.. Just give him th refund..

  2. What you listed on eBay is a clear violation of eBay's policy on digitally delivered goods, so you'll be lucky if you get get away with *only* refunding your buyer.  They can still leave negative feedback and low seller ratings.

A couple of questions... did you list this in the cell phones category?  If it's not a phone, but you listed it in the cell phones category, then it's fraud.  Did you use a picture of a cell phone in the listing?  If so, that's deliberately misleading.

  3. Keep a 10% restocking fee plus any shipping and handling. Wait. Is the code still usable? Did they use it? If you cannot use it now, then no, keep the money. Or give them a partial refund. Or I don't know, use good judgment.

  4. give him the refund and mention to ebay what the deal is.Just tell him(buyer) that there is a "restocking "fee of lets say 10% as a lesson to learn from their oversight. If they threaten to dispute the charge, dont give the refund and have them prove that your ad said it was for the phone. You will get your money in a dispute and they will have learned a lesson. Good luck.

  5. As long as you explained in the auction what they were getting (and that is exactly what they got), then it is there fault. That is now your money. They made the item worth what it was by bidding the highest bid. Just as you are responsible for listing acurately, they are responsible for reading the description and knowing what they are purchasing.
