EBay: What should I do?

Question

There's two of the same item up for bid on eBay.

One of them is currently at $46 and it costs $10 postage and handling and ends at 9:00pm AEST. The other is also $46 and cost $0 postage and handling and ends at 10:00pm AEST.

So one ends sooner but costs more at the moment, but if i decide to get the second one i'm not sure if someone will bid too high.

RISK it! Because even if you don't get the second one which will be cheaper... there will be more listed within a day or two which may be an even better deal!

It's a risk, what ultimately matters is how important the $10 difference is. If you don't consider it too much money, then statistics say that you are possibly better off paying the $10 on the first one than you are if you gamble on the second item not changing in price. If the item is not that urgent for you to get right now, then I would recommend you actually go after the second item. You would have up to a $10 difference over the starting bid and if the price exceeds that limit then you could wait for it to become available later. So strategically it would make sense to do that  instead. Just decide how important this item is to you. Just don't bid more than the item is worth.
