Question:

EBay pricing question... also, PayPal?

OK so I have a long story but to sum it up EA accidentally sent me a set of Rock Band drums that are compatible with the Nintendo Wii when I had requested a set of Xbox 360 pads. I called EA and they said I could keep the Wii set and they would send me some 360 ones.

Now, I plan on selling the Wii drum set on eBay, but my question is what should I set the Reserve/Buy It Now price as? These things retail for $79.99 USD, but I don't have any sort of official packaging they came in, just a UPS box. They are, however, unused and "brand spanking new" (directly shipped from EA. They include everything you would get from Gamestop except an official box and instructions on how to assemble them (although I'm sure you could find that online).

So my first question is, about how much are these things worth?

Second question: I am new to eBay and am wondering about how much it costs to put something up for sale. Thanks!

Third (and final) question: Does PayPal cost anything at all?

  1. Score!

Don't use a reserve price or a Buy It Now price.  This thing is in demand and people will pay about what it retails for.  Just make sure to describe it accurately so buyers know they won't get a retail box, etc.

PayPal does charge fees for receiving payments.  It cost me $14 to receive a payment of about $360 recently, if that helps.

  2. I would start selling the set at $10.00 no reserve.  Let people find the item and start a bid war. Best way.  I would put in the description how you came upon them and how you will package them.  Take a nice picture or two of the whole mess and list the items in the description.

They are only worth what someone is willing to pay - don't forget that.  If you start out too high no one will bid.  For an add on Ebay you will probably pay from $3.50 - 5:00.  Then when you sell you will be charged a seller's fee of a certain percent of the wining bid.  PayPal will also charge you a certain percent but you will come out ahead and have money you wouldn't have!  It is lots of fun and good experience.
