  1. This situation sounds kinds of suspicious...tell me, did you see this vehicle on Craigslist.com?  There is a huge scam going on Craigslist revolving around cars.  Here's the way the scam works...

    1) You see an incredible vehicle for an incredible price on Craigslist.com, so you email the seller to inquire more about it.

    2) The seller says she'll sell it to you, but she wants to complete the sale on eBay because "it will keep both of us protected."

    3) She'll then ask you for some information like email address, home address, and some other random questions which she states she will send to eBay and that "eBay" will email you directly with the steps to complete the transaction.

    4) You'll get an email that "appears" to be from eBay (but its not) which will tell you that you need to wire transfer the money to an "eBay representative" (also not true) who will hold onto the money until you get the car and you are satisfied.  It will also make some ridiculous claim that you will have $50,000 or more buyer protection in case something goes wrong.

    5) If you haven't guessed already, once you send your money via wire transfer you will never hear from the so-called "eBay representative" or the seller.  Nor will you ever see a vehicle.

If this sounds familiar, report the Craigslist listing to the Craigslist police to have it removed as spam.  However, if my assumption is completely off, you can call me at 1-888-445-4992 (eBay Claims) Monday-Friday 3:30-midnight CST.

I hope this helps and I hope you get this in time!

  2. Seems a little fishy to me. Why are you buying at car at 15 anyway! hehe

  3. No. Don't do it. You need to see a car in person before buying it.

If you're "only 15??" why are you buying a car to begin with?

  4. You shouldn't buy on eBay, there is very little protection. Check out my blog for the best alternative, ebid!

  5. please contact the seller directly

  6. Actually ebay motors is relatively legit and a lot of people buy and sell cars there. Check feedback, whether or not they're paypal confirmed, the description very carefully and their return policy. Ultimately, if you don't know a whole lot about cars you'll probably want to buy locally.

  7. Normally purchasing items through ebay is a fairly safe process, however, I would be very cautious of making such a large purchase. Cars are a very tricky item to buy in any circumstance, because it is very hard to determine the condition of the vehicle inside and out.

Since this is most likely your first car, I would advise you to discuss the purchase with someone who has more experience buying and selling cars to make sure you are getting a good deal.

Even then, I should warn it is very risky to buy a car sight unseen.

  8. It is a scam, plain and simple.  eBay does not ship things sold on the site, nor does eBay handle money transferred between individuals.  Anyone who claims otherwise is a criminal.
