ECB extended Mushtaq Ahmed’s coaching stint after the PCB snub - Cricket News Update
Former Pakistan leg-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushtaq-Ahmed-c78096, may not have found any favour with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials, but the veteran bowler is rewarded with another extension to his contract with the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The contract will extend his four-year old stint with the English team as their spin coach till 2014.
"The ECB has extended my contract till 2014 as their spin bowling consultant and I will rejoining the England team for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka," Mushtaq was speaking to PTI.
In April, Mushtaq’s name emerged among the leading contenders to become the bowling coach of the Green Shirts ahead of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397.
The spinner sought a three-year contract with the Pakistan Board with a condition of not sacking him. However, PCB never got back to the spinner, giving him a clear signal of not accepting his conditions.
"The PCB might not want to recognize my qualifications and experience but the ECB has extended my contract," he said.
Nicknamed Mushie by his teammates, the former Sussex bowler has taken 185 wickets in 52 Tests for his country, while also picking up 166 scalps in 144 One Day Internationals (ODIs) in a 13-year career spanning from 1990 till 2003.

"I had a meeting with the board Chairman but I had told him clearly that I was not running after any job as by grace of God I was well set with the ECB and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 team," Mushtaq said.
"I would love to contribute to the growth of Pakistan cricket but the board has its own ideas," he said.
