ECB to name three captains for three different formats of game: Cricket News
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to name three separate captains for three different formats of cricket. It is expected that Andrew Strauss will lead the Test side, Alastair Cook will cap the One Day Internationals and Stuart Broad will
be assigned the role as a skipper in the T20.
According to reports, the director of the English cricket team, Andy Flower, has requested Andrew Strauss to continue cricket for another year or two and should not retire from the game.
The 34-year-old, Strauss, who knows he will not be playing the next ICC World Cup in 2015, is looking forward to give other players the opportunity to play for the next quadrennial event better. However, England's coach, Andy Flower, has reportedly asked
Strauss not to quit at the moment and continue his play for another couple of years.
Cook did well on his first assignment as the captain of England side in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. His latest challenge will be to show if he has the character and adaptability to follow in Strauss' footsteps and dominate in the One-Day format of the game.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hugh-Morris-c63550, Lower and England's managing director, have been given the task to announce the news this morning at Lord's and end the speculation.
However, this would clearly signal the end of England's T20 captain Paul Collingwood's career, who led the side to it’s first-ever ICC trophy, ICC World T20 in 2010 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Collingwood is reported to be upset at being sacked from his post as England's captain in the T20 format of the game.
Flower also said that they are currently planning their ODI squad keeping in mind the upcoming 2015 World Cup, so there was no point in picking Collingwood in the side since he will not be available after four years.
England's next international assignment will begin when they host http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the first Test match at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on May 26. The Poms are expecting good results in their upcoming matches against Sri Lanka.
