ECB’s MD Hugh Morris cites Andy Flower and Andrew Strauss as key factors in England’s win against India – Cricket News Update
While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hugh-Morris-c63550, the Managing Director of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), has cited the coach and captain as key factors in England’s
comprehensive performance against the World Champions.
The English side is currently 2-0 ahead in the ongoing four-match series and the stage is set for the crucial Edgbaston Test, scheduled to be held from August 10 to August 14, 2011. The Englishmen are in a strong position to seal the series by a margin of
two games and achieve the top slot in the Test rankings.
Despite the fact that the whole English crew displayed an impressive show in all departments of the game, the MD insisted that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s success at Lord’s and Trent Bridge is an outcome of the "outstanding leadership" of Strauss and Flower.
"One of the most important reasons is we have outstanding leadership in Flower and Strauss. A lot of hard work has gone in over the last few years to get us to this position. The short-term target is to win at Edgbaston and what we`ve got to try and do is
sustain it over a period of time," said Morris.
Aiming to take the side to glory, Flower recently got his contract renewed by the ECB. He has fairly succeeded in his ambition as the side is just a couple of steps away from claiming their supremacy in the international cricket.
Likewise, Strauss has been a great leader for England over the last few years. After thrashing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in consecutive Ashes series, the left-hander is about to steer the side to the peak one can only dream of.
Morris also shared that Flower’s work has been going according to the plans which were made after England’s dismal show in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011.
"Very recently Andy committed his future to England cricket. We always said that after the Ashes and World Cup we would sit down and begin to plot a strategy over the next period of time," added the former Test cricketer.
