  1. The aid for which you are eligible is the difference between your estimated expenses (as determined by the financial aid office of the college you attend).  So, if the financial aid office of your college has determined the average expenses for one of their students is $25,000 per year, you will be eligible for $11,994 ($25,000-$13,006).

That doesn't guarantee that you'll receive that much, but you'll be eligible to.

  2. If by financial aid you mean grants it is not likely.  Maybe if you qualify for a merit scholarship through the school, but that has nothing to do with the EFC (usually).

However, you are still going to qualify for other forms of financial aid - like loans!!  Yes, not hardly as exciting as free money, but you can still secure low interest fixed rate Stafford loans to help defray some of the cost of attending.

Talk to your financial aid office about what you may be eligible for.

  3. Your EFC is too high to receive grants, but you may qualify for loans with a low interest rate. Your fiance doesn't qualify for any grants either, but will qualify for loans as well. You may want to look at fastweb.com and search for scholarships, so your entire college education doesn't have to be funded with loans. Good luck!
