What is EFY?

EFY is a youth program with the objectives to encourage, assist, and guide youth participants (ages 14-18) as they strive to "come unto Christ." EFY creates a setting where youth have the opportunity to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually and socially. EFY programs are held throughout North America every summer and are attended by more than 50,000 youth. Sessions are primarily supervised by young-adult counselors between the ages of 20-25 and who are positive role models for the youth. All sessions are directed by adult instructors.

EFY Registration Process

Early Application Period

Begins: 9:00 a.m. on January 15, 2008

Ends: 5:00 p.m. on January 22, 2008

Purpose: To ensure the fairest way to place youth into EFY sessions they desire to attend while managing the high volume of youth who want to register.

Helpful Tips

Applications must be submitted online

The order we receive applications during this application period does NOT make a difference?you will have an equal chance of getting into a desired session no matter what day of the application period you apply

Only one application is allowed per individual

You may apply as an individual or with a group of 2?6 persons using a Session Link.

Have your credit card ready

Payment for EFY is made at the time you submit your application?your credit card will be charged before you receive a confirmation number

A Confirmation Page and Number will be given to you confirmation your application has been received?this does not confirm registration into a session

History of EFY

According to EFY's Participant Journal the program was created by Ronald C. Hills, in 1976. when 172 youth and 15 counselors met for the first session of the summer program. Jeffrey R. Holland, now of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, was one of the banquet speakers at the founding session. The next year, attendance had risen to 863 youth. Currently, EFY's summer program includes sessions which are held at various locations throughout the United States and Canada. As of 2005, the total number of participants who have attended EFY over the years is 409,484

In 2006, EFY expanded outside of North America for the first time, with sessions in England and Germany and ScandinaviaIn 2007 EFY held it's session at Exeter University in the United Kingdom.
