EGYPT: Are you allowed climb to the top of the pyramids in Egypt?

I want to climb to the top of the great pyramid and have someone take a picture of me.

Are you allowed to do that?

What do you think that would happen if you did? Would they just kick out of the country? Would you go to jail? Would you get shot?

  1. I was in Egypt a couple of months ago, and they will not let you climb to the top of any of the pyramids on the Giza plateau.  If you have a guide & a tip for one of the tourist police officers, they will usually let you climb up a little bit, but not all the way to the top.

If you just started climbing and didn't try to give one of the tourist police some sort of tip, they would just tell you to get down, and they would probably just ask you for a tip if you want to climb.  These "tips" go a long way in Egypt.

  2. In previous times you have been allowed to climb the pyramids (good luck trying to get to the top), however now there are strings around the botton of the the pyramids and 4 guards at each side, if someone is caught climing them they are told to get off.  Even though u can't get a pic from the top of the pyramids if u pay ppl to show u around the pyramids they know the best places to stand so it looks like your touching the top of the pyramid or even kissing the sphynx..lol

btw ur 3 options: being kicked out of the country, going to jail or shot is so extreme....having travelled to egypt 2 times b4, I know from first hand experiance it's an extremely nice and safe country

  3. I dont know, but I have a picture of me when im like quarter the way from it

The descent was much harder than going up, lol.

  4. sorry but no u r not allowed to  as when I was beside the pyramids they didnt allow us to climbeven the few first steps as Pyramids were not built to be a climbing scene but they were built to be a historic wonder and you wont get out of the country or go to jail or get shot or even pay one penny they will just prevent you...................and Egyptians stop tricking those kind people by telling them that you are not Egyptian.........how come that your nickname is Ahlaweya and the pyramids are in you avatar ad you are not Egyptian...............kefaya nasb

  5. no matter its allowed or not ,its too dangerous..

its not like climbing mountains where you can hold you climbing gear or something to help you climbing..

if you mean climbing with gear, its then NOT allowed

if without gear, then its too dangerous like i said..

cause pyramid has large steps and the space between them is high to climb ..

anyway you will love the pyramids and enjoy the spirit !!

  6. no you can't not only because you will be stopped but because it's physically tyirng and no you won't get shot either lool we're not animals.

  7. I'm sorry to tell you that man, but actually you cannot climb to the top of the pyramid. There is a limit to hwere high you can get, and after that you just can't go any further.

But even if you did cross the limit, you won't get in jail or anything. Just don't take the risk, it's pretty dangerous climbing all the way to the top.

  8. egypt is pretty bad so i think you would go to jail for a long time

  9. I think you can't...cuz it's really danger on u...if u have visited the pyramid before u'll know what I'm talking about.....each step is about one or two meters high............u can only climb first 4 or 5 steps....

    U won't do that cuz there's police will stop u....and u won't get shot or anything......Egypt is good country...we don't shot people

  10. look i wanna inform you that u are not allowed to climb the pyramids at all ,, sorry for that ,, but u can climb the sant catherine mountine which located in Sinai

  11. i think you can. on the pyramids they have these step things that allow you to climb. but goodluck climbing, and bring a lot of water. i asked my dad the same question and he said it looks easier than it really is...

  12. It is frowned upon, but not impossible. My teacher was able to climb to the top, and here's what she did:

You usually take a guide with you, and if you have enough money, it's not hard to bribe him to look the other way. Many people have accomplished this by bribing their guides, it just depends on how much backbone you have.
