EHB wins UK Governing Body of the Year Award

Owing to lifting the level of hockey in the country, the England Hockey Board (EHB) on Tuesday  was chosen as the Governing Body of the Year at the 2010 United Kingdom Coaching Awards, held in London.
The England Hockey Board (EHB) introduced an important coaching system to train hockey players of all ages particularly the national Women’s and Men’s teams. The newly introduced coaching system delivered convincing results as
the Men’s and Women’s hockey teams succeeded in four major titles this year.
The Men's hockey squad earned a silver medal in the Champions Trophy while the Women’s team completed a hat-trick by winning three bronze medals.
In winning the award the England Hockey Board (EHB) bested the Rugby Football League, the Golf Unions Great Britain and Ireland Partnership and the Professional Golfers Association (PGA).
Head of Governing Body Support, Stuart Guise said that the England Hockey Board (EHB) had been selected for this honour for its commitment and advancement to the evolution of coaching centers in the country. He further said that
the EHB as a leading National Governing Body (NGB) for hockey would leave significant impacts in development of the game in the country.  
Performance Director of England Hockey Board (EHB), David Faulkner in a delighted state said that it was a great achievement as an autonomous body acknowledged the services and efforts of the EHB. Lauding the role of volunteers,
the Performance Director said that the England Hockey Board is putting all its efforts to bolster the coaching system in the country.
Chief Executive of the England Hockey Board (EHB) Sally Munday who received the award of UK Governing Body of the Year applauded the efforts of the EHB workers towards bettering the coaching system in the country. She said, “This
is a great recognition for a number of years’ hard work by a lot of people in our sport to radically change our approach to coach development.  We are midway through a journey of significant improvement built around our Single System development pathway and
it is fantastic to be recognised for the progress we have made in the last few years."
The England Hockey Board (EHB) has formulated its training system significantly in the recent years. With the support of centrally contracted coaches and educators, the EHB developed a clear training pathway for Single System player’s
development. It has also established a CPD Coach Performance programme and Level-4 Award to enhance the level of coaching in the country.
