Question:

ELECTRICAL LOAD CALCULATION?

One of my friends working in Contracting Company, he's asking about Electrical Program which gives you the full details as output. Supposed that you have a room having 2 socket on the wall, the inputs like 13Amp. single phase, etc. then program will tell you the wire diameter, lenght, impedance, frequency range or etc. Is there any program alike?

  1. See American Wiring Gauge.

  2. You need more than a program, you need some knowledge in electricity so you can apply what the program tells you. Take a basic course in electricity.

For example, wire used for house power wiring has no applicable frequency range or impedance. But that can apply to other wires, such as ethernet or TV cable wiring.

For power wiring (120 volts AC 60Hz, US) you need to be a certified electrician before you are allowed to do this work. If you aren't, and you have a fire, your insurance company may well refuse to pay.

    .

  3. there are quite a number of programs for electrical engineering.

search the web,and find one that best meets your criteria.

  4. E Tap..it is the best option to calculate the load. ( If u r from U.S)

    or

Interactive Power Systems Analysis (IPSA) Program ( if u r from U.K)

    both do the same job.

  5. You really don't need or really want a program for this. Everything you really need to know for a load calculation for just about anything can be found in the National Electrical Code.

What your friend needs is a course in basic electricity as well as a course in the National Electrical Code.

Most programs you refer to are geared more towards 3 phase loads in large industrial plants or electrical utilities.
