Question:

ELT devices for commercial aircraft?

I've read that the older Electronic Locator Transmitters on commercial aircraft (the 121 & 243 Mhz models) are going to be phazed out in order to force airline companies to install the more expensive but far superior 406Mhz beacons.

Does anyone know of there are any commercial airlines that already use the 406Mhz beacons? Like the airbus a380 luxury class planes, do they have the 406 models aboard? Or do they still use the older ones?

How about private aircraft, like the Learjet or Embraer models? Do they come off the assembly line with the 406 beacons installed? Or do they all still use the older, cheaper version like the rest of the industry?

Also, are there any airlines or aircraft (non-military) that include PLBs or Personal Locator Beacons on board...

Thanks in advance.
