I didn't think twice before I did this...This guy, (a friend of my friend's) (which I don't know him very well) said he can fixed my car for me for a discount price. SO, I gave him 400$--so he can go get the parts for me, BUT then today he told me a ridiculous story that all the parts got stolen at my friend's place.

400$ was taken away from me. What can I do?

  1. This same thing happened after Hurricane Katrina .

" Contractors" made big promises, collected money from people already standing knee deep in water, and then were never heard from again.   If you have a written contract with this guy, you can get  legal action.  But if you just handed over the money.... you've been had... and I am so sorry.  Don't kick yourself too hard.  We've all been in your place over something or another.  Too often we are just too trusting.

  2. lol he jacked 400$ from u, he did not buy the parts, he used the money to by pot and go to a local casino and play the tables

  3. If you can, take something of his that is worth the same amout as collateral. Then let him know that he can get it back when he gives you back the $400 he stole, (this is legal by the way, youre not stealing). Give him 15 days to come up with the money. If he doesnt give you the money by them, file a claim against him with small claims. It doesnt matter if you dont have a signed contract. Make sure you bring the collateral to court. If you cant get anything as collateral, buy a mini recorder from walmart for around $50 and talk to him. Say you his name and ask when he can come up with the money. Use that tape as evidense in court. He was responsible to getting those parts installed in your car.  He had the money/parts in his possesion when it was supposedly stolen. You'll get your money back if you take him to court.

  4. Even the score. You can 'borrow' tools from his garage and by borrow I mean steal.

  5. confront him and tell him he is responsible for the spare parts...tell him you paid for a service but none was provided... Tell him you want your money back... and if he doesn't comply.....

get yourself a car sponge- soak the sponge in Starch and tie the sponge into a tight ball. make sure it is real small- wait for the sponge to dry(with the Starch in the sponge) and then remove the string that you tied the sponge with. Now the sponge should be nice and dry and should stay in the ball shape you tied it in.......

NOW.... if you get the chance to use his toilet- make sure you flush the sponge down the toilet. the sponge will open up once soaked for a while inside the pipes. This will cause a mega blockage. the price for a plumber to come out and fix the problem will far exceed what he stole from you and he will be in **** up to his knees.

  6. small claims court

  7. Use violent means towards him. It won't get your money back, but it will make you feel better. As long as he is alone, he can't do anything, just make sure there is no evidence.lol. Thats what I would do.

  8. beat the **** out of him

    and steal the money back

  9. There is nothing oyu can do but learn from this situation.  Always go to an established mechanic which offers a warranty on your work.  Now you are are going to have a very expensive fix.

  10. #1 Call the cops although theres not much that will be done I am sure.

#2 Learn from your mistake always get something saying that you paid that much and for what when it comes to anything.

  11. i hope your joking and if your not, im sorry but you just got ******

  12. SORRY BUT YOU CAN DO NOTHING LEGALLY WITH OUT ANY PAPERS SHOWING THAT YOU GAVE HIM THAT MONEY

  13. Sounds strange that everything supposedly got stolen at your friend's place. It sure looks like the so-called "friend" might be in on the scam as well.

You could call the cops to at least get the satisfaction out of reporting it, but it's unlikely anything could come of it without proof.

As for the friend? If he doesn't seem concerned and won't at least make an attempt to intervene and help, it's obvious that you need to find friends you can trust.

  14. did he file a police report of the stolen parts? does he have the reciepts from the parts that he can show you?

ask him these questions and if he doesnt have them call the cops, although i am sure they cant do much.

  15. cops ain't gonna do nuthin beat his a**

  16. next time, "think twice".

  17. Sorry but you cant do anything but if it helps what he did to you will come back at some time and bite his rear-end.

  18. go get a can of brake fluid and put in a spray bottle.  Spray his car with it, (maybe the word a$$hole) paint comes off in seconds, well over $400!

  19. call the cops bust his S****y assss

  20. how can you prove you gave him the money. if it was cash unless you have a witness there is not much you can do.

  21. call the cops on him. although you are probably out  the $400. I guess you get to chalk this one up as a very expensive lesson learned on scumbags and thievery. Sorry this happened to you.
