Baby pacific blue tang (Dory from Finding Nemo) that i've only had 4 days, was stuck in a hole in the Live Rock

Obliterated the Live Rock to get her out as quickly but as gently as we could

Now, she is incredibly scratched up, her back fin (the yellow one) is slightly bent upwards and has a small split in it and she is swimming funny (a bit sidewards)...

Is she in shock? Will she get better??? What can i do??? What do i do if she gets stuck in Live Rock again???

PLEASE REPLY QUICKLY AND THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

  1. I seriously wish i could help, but i don't know that much about fish. I would just try to call a vet of somebody who does know a lot about fish to help.

Good luck I hope you fish get's better.

  2. there are stress zymes which can help speed up recovery of sick and injured fish. http://www.aquacare.co.uk/shop/index1.ht... here are some different ones. But i would go into a shop to ask for the best medication and explain to them what else you have in the tank such as pregnant fish or babies and set up of your tank as they could affect the type of medication suitable.

  3. Apoliges i dont know anything about fish, but cant you remove this live rock from the tank to prevent it from happening again? Alternatively i consult a marine specialist in your area, ie pet shop, college or something. Sorry.

  4. take the live rock out. even though i've got no idea what the h**l you're talking about

  5. her fin is broke and she will be in stress just give her time and keep an eye on her

  6. REMOVE the rock.

Then just make sure the tank is thoroughly clean so if she is hurt the wound will remain clean. And keep an eye on her. There is nothing more you can do.

  7. put it in an isolation tank and watch it, it should heal but you shouldn't put any thing with a hole in it that the fish cant go throw.

  8. Take to a vet you would be surprised but a vet really does help

  9. ok chill she will be ok yeh she could be in shock and if u think it will happen again get the rock out put it some where else.

  10. Taking the rock out would be my first action if this happened to me i wouldn't leave it in there because i know it would get stuck again!

keep the tank clean and keep an eye on it!!!

  11. ok im more of a freshwater person but my friend owns the local aqua centre and has lots of tangs and  other marine creatures and for tangs this seems to be common as they do swim kinda funny sometimes i dont know how big yours is but they do get large maybe she miss judged the size of the hole but either way 1)you need to keep an eye on her and make sure there is no infection 2) she will heal in time if there is no infection 3) yes she is most likely in shock that is  a lot for a fish to go through and you are lucky she is stil alive 4) rearange your rocks be more careful in possitioning them

  12. This is down to poor planning of the structure of your tank. Sharp rocks should lay on the bed; not create caves.

The tang will most likely be ok, but you must re-arrange the rocks. My mate had the same trouble, but I've always been more cautious.

  13. those kind of fish swim sideways all the time ive had one. and take any thing it can get stuck in out of your tank

  14. Keep your water really clean for the next while, so her wounds dont get infected. She should heal up ok, but tangs are quite prone to marine ich when stressed so keep a close eye on her. It might be a good idea to get hold of some ich treatment just incase. Provided shes kept in good health and in good conditions for the next few weeks she should be fine :)

Also do something with the rock so she cant get back in. Break it into smaller pieces or fill in holes with little bits of rock or something.

  15. remove the rock and keep a close eye on her for the next 24 hours if she does not improve seek professional help.
