ENGLAND RUGBY - Anyone able to identify the point at which it all started to go wrong?

I have my own idea -

They COULD have pushed on after 2003, but I think there were 2 matches which condemned them to a miserable downhill slide instead of showing themselves worthy World Champions.

2 games & the failure of ONE unfortunate player on those 2 wretched days! Stylish & convincing victory turned into tragic defeat!

Anyone able to pinpoint those key moments? Anyone agree with me?

Sane & reasoned answers preferred to unthinking gut reaction, or idiot 'nationalistic' abuse, please!

(I am NOT 'English' but AM a great respecter & lifetime supporter of the England Rugby & Cricket teams - and of all genuinely good sporting effort.)

Ya know... I think it was when Ireland Beat them in their first game as RWC champions in the 6 nations in 2004.... we whipped the english butts in Twickenham.... hense they realised they were not the gods of rugby they thought they were and they totally did not deserve Knighthoods for kicking a simple drop goal.....

They had retirements.... and as they hadn't developed a second string to cope with the change... the quality was reduced... that and after Wilkos departure... they have no decent number 10... the RCW team relied heavily on Wilcos sure boot..... It's their own fault for not diversifying into a number of attacking elements....

They'll have to completely re-build!!
