Im making this poster on ALLUSION for my english class presentation. the definition in my paper is:
"An allusion is a literary device that triggers different ideas and creates vivid images in the reader’s mind with a couple of words that relate to the present context. Allusion literally means “reference,†and therefore, it is the reference to a person, place, or event directly or indirectly. The use of allusions in a piece of writing adorns the story with mental images that help the reader understand and visualize what is happening while adding variation, enriching the entire content. However, the reader must be familiar with the references made, otherwise the effect is lost. Allusions are made to the Bible, myths, well-known fictional or historical characters or events, and myths."
But that is like.._way_ too long and elaborate to go on a poster... this is the shortened version:
"WHAT IS AN ALLUSION?
A literary device that adorns the story by...
-using a couple of words
-triggering ideas
-creating vivid images in the reader's mind that are helpful to understand the story
-adding variation to the context
-enriching the entire content"
Would this work? Or does it sound weird. Any ways to move things around so it's not a mouthful when i actually present in front of the class? Anything else to add?
THANK YOU :)
