My air conditioner just recently went out on my Jetta and I took it to the shop and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Now, the EPC light is on. Anyone know if it's related to the a/c? Thanks.

  1. Its a traction control lite, which normally does not have nothing to do with the air conditioning. Not unless the compressor in you vehicle caused the engine to cause you to stop while you were driving down the road, which is pretty uncommon, but knowing VWs I would not rule that out.

Having been a VW tech for over 15 years, and have last worked at the dealership less then 3 years ago, I have came across this many times, when I seen it on the repair order. I would first have the codes checked at the dealership, check for any recalls on the vehicle, and have the code cleared, and see if the code comes back.

These vehicles are electrical nightmares, and have been with VW since the late 1960's to the the present, and they seem  not improving their products, and creating more problems for the public and the tech's which have to trace these problems with little or no help from their own Tech Support. Costing the vehicle to  not be repaired correctly the first time, and costing both the customer and the tech involved in these vehicle's made in Mexico, Germany, Canada, and some Islands that used to be prison camps in the 1800's, and the US, and South America, Affica, and others numerous to mention to Save Money.

But the choice should be take it to your local dealership for piece of mind, and check for all the recalls on your German Made Product.
