EPL: Arsenal, Aston Villa and Birmingham City news
Arsenal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out any transfers in the current transfer window. The North London club was heavily linked to a potential signing of a new centre back, owing to long term injuries of first choice defenders
Sebastian Squillaci and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002.
However, the manager stated that it would be surprising if they do sign someone before the end of the month. Wenger added that there is no news on the transfer fund and he is currently happy with what he has got. Arsenal, however,
can still snap up a loan signing for the remainder of the season, as both the centre backs are not due to be back till the end of February. Arsenal is currently in the running of winning silverware in all four tournaments available to them and cannot play
the same back four for all those competitions.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa on loan goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Guzan-c7954 is to stay with Hull City till the end of February, as confirmed by a source inside the club. Guzan, who joined Hull this January, has become a first choice with the club owing to injuries
to on loan Arsenal shot stopper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vito-Mannone-c36276. Guzan is an USA International, having already made 16 appearances for the Yankees, and his first appearance for Hull ended in a 1-0 loss to Leicester City.
Birmingham City
Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish was extremely delighted by his team performance against West Ham United in the Carling Cup semifinal. Despite starting the match with a one goal deficit, Birmingham managed to win the match
in extra time, winning the two legged tie 4-3 on aggregate.
The manager has therefore refused to panic over the current situation of Birmingham in the Premier League and claimed that it’s only a matter of time before they get back to their winning ways.
"If you worry, you die. If you don't worry, you die. But to be fair, I'm a conscientious person and, if you are conscientious, it means you care. I care about the Blues fans and Birmingham City FC but, in terms of being a big club,
we are still trying to get to that status and we are not at that level yet," claimed the Birmingham boss.
Birmingham are currently 17th on the League table but still have to play two fixtures more than the relegation-threatened West Ham United and Wigan Athletic. Wins in those fixtures would see them safely in the upper
half of the last 10 and that is exactly what McLeish is hoping for.
