EPL Full Time Match Report: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United, 0-0 (Part 2)
Rooney’s second shot on goal was a more threatening when the player was handed yet another chance by Berbatov. His sweetly timed shot met stumbling hands of Gomes, who in the end just managed to nudge it out for the right back to provide
clearance.
On the other hand Tottenham were on the attack every time they had the ball, with Bale threatening the young right back Rafael for most of the first half. Bale, however, had a hard time crossing the ball but his one inch perfect cross
was met by Crouch, who fired just inches away from goal. Another Bale cross met by Van Der Vaart found the net, but on the other end as the player hit the side netting. Within no time, the match time flew away owing to pace and flair on both sides of the pitch.
Midfielders had no time or space on the ball and were mainly used to get the back ball for the wingers to take the attack. It would’ve taken someone like the Legendary http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 to put the brakes on, as the player was seen in the stands alongside his son.
The second half was controlled by United as they managed to keep more possession. The brakes were finally applied for Tottenham’s speedy side. The side may have taken the lead when a clever move constructed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 led Carrick to
take a long distance effort but the shot just sailed wide. Only a minute later, Rooney got forward taking on 4 defenders and produce a good shot on target. The effort was denied by Gomes with a full diving save. Tottenham goalkeeper had more to do than Edwin
Van Der Sar, as both Vidic and Ferdinand were exceptional on the day.
In a match that showed true English style of play, both sides managed some exciting attacks but the killer touch was just not possible. Tottenham may have been given the penalty when Vidic pulled the player’s shirt in the penalty box but
Mike Dean was not interested. Following the Red Card, United made some interesting substitutions, as they took off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299 to put in Anderson. Also, Berbatov was taken off for Javier Hernandez. The manager signalled for a more compressed play from his players
as Rooney moved to take over the right back position. That worked for United as they managed to escape with a point despite being a man down.
