EPL Full Time Report: West Ham United vs. Manchester City – City cruise past the Hammers (Part 2)
The second half kicked off in almost exactly the same manner as the first half. City were on top of things from the start and didn't look like they were going to give West Ham any opportunities in the game. There was however one controversial
moment in the game that could have potentially changed the match. At the sixty sixth minute, Jo seemed to have handed the ball in the City area and the West Ham players roared towards the referee for him to award a penalty, however the official wasn't buying
any of it and signalled the game to play on.
That decision by the referee in favour of City seemed to spark the away team on as in the seventy third minute City and Yaya Toure had their second goal on the night. The midfielder received the ball on the edge of the box and then he
went on to cut in from the left and then went on to curl the ball beyond Green. However the ball managed to bounce off the post and hit the back of a stranded Green before landing in the back of the goal, to give City the two goal advantage.
From then on, City were displaying some brilliant football and passing flawlessly which eventually led to the team's third goal. Silva who had been highly impressive throughout the game, picked out a floating Johnson with some impeccable
vision and the England international showed some great composure as he rounded Green before slotting the ball into the back of an empty net.
However West Ham did manage to pull back a consolation goal in the eighty ninth minute, just to better their goal difference a little. West Ham managed to win a corner on the eighty ninth minute and after some really slack defending that
was displayed by Kolo Toure, Tomkins managed to leap the defender and smash the ball into the back of the net with his head.
However that was about it for the game as the referee soon after blew his whistle to signal the end of the game and City were now second in the league, thanks to the win they picked up against a struggling West Ham.
