EPL Half Time report: Newcastle United vs. Manchester City
Starting XI for Newcastle United: Krul, Simpson, Steven Taylor, Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Routledge, Barton, Tiote, Gutierrez, Nolan, Carroll... Subs: Harper, Williamson, Guthrie, Perch, Smith, Best, Ranger
Starting XI for Manchester City: Hart, Boateng, Lescott, Kompany, Kolarov, Milner, De Jong, Barry, Silva, Toure Yaya, Tevez... Subs: Given, Richards, Zabaleta, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adam-Johnson-c3537, Vieira, Jo, Balotelli.
Having denied a chance to go top of the Premier League table by Everton, Manchester City looked to stay in the top four. The side did just that in the first half as City found two goals in quick successions to put the game away.
A solo run by Carlos Tevez in the first minute of the match was neatly finished by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423, who happened to be lurking nearby. This was followed by Tevez scoring one of his own, as he was expertly found by Milner on the cross. The
Argentinean then managed a slight flick but was enough to beat Krul. Manchester City managed two goals in quick succession to really put the game away for the home side.
Afterwards the visitors controlled most of the possession and had the chance to extend the lead. With a five man midfield, City didn’t let much pass through and enjoying most of the possession in the match along with the most shots on
target. Newcastle worked hard to get the ball back but lost it cheaply, which made the things harder for them. City enjoyed a free flow of possession, with Yaya Toure controlling the midfield. Carlos Tevez looked dangerous and was near to doubling his tally.
The Argentinean was denied by the goalkeeper on two occasions and was seen frustrated by not finishing off those chances.
It seemed that City would move 2 points within reach of rivals Manchester United in the Premier league table. Newcastle United have a mountain to climb in the second half and would need to find goals in order to put the match in their
favour.
