EPL: Manchester United sneak a win against West Bromwich Albion
Manchester United somehow managed to walk away with all three points at the Hawthorns, leaving West Bromwich Albion to rue all their missed opportunities.
The Red Devils defeated Roberto Di Matteo’s spirited side 2-1, even though they were decidedly second best throughout the match. The result means that United still cling on to the summit of the Barclays Premier League with 41 points, with two games in hand
over their city rivals.

the death knell for the Baggies, the goal actually spurred Di Matteo’s side to life.
West Brom pushed forward in search of an equaliser, getting their reward in the 18th minute. Vidic scuffed a header in his own box, gifting Morrison with a chance to shoot at goal from 25 yards out. The youngster unleashed an unstoppable shot
at Kuszczak’s goal, giving the Manchester United keeper absolutely no chance.

have seen Neville receive a straight red card. However, referee Foy did not see things in the same light. It was a terrible decision in a match full of bad decisions by the veteran referee.
The Baggies fought on in the second half, forcing United to defend for their lives. Jerome Thomas outwitted Ferdinand at the edge of the box, but was bundled over by the defender’s trailing leg. This time, the referee did award the penalty. It was a glorious
opportunity for West Brom to take the lead; however, Odemwingie let the visitors off the hook after he placed his shot well wide of the goal.
Sensing blood, Manchester United pushed forwards in search of a winner. They earned themselves a rare corner with 15 minutes of the game to go. Rooney floated the ball in, giving substitute Javier Hernandez a chance to fire his side into the lead. The Mexican
international made no mistake from his header, giving the Red Devils a vital lead.
After going ahead, United closed up shop. West Brom tried to fight back, but were unable to find a way past the United defence. They held on to their precarious lead until the end of the game. It was a match that West Brom will feel they should have won,
but some bad decisions by the referee, as well as their own inability to take their chances, ultimately saw them walk away empty-handed.
