EPL News: Adam Johnson getting to big for Manchester City
Adam Johnson, who has quite simply been one of the most brilliant finds to be ever made by Manchester City wants to help his team go on and become the Champions of England, however the player strongly feels that he cannot do so if he is
left sitting on the bench at Eastlands for majority of the games that are played.
The winger who was City’s shinning light last season seems to have become a rather frustrated figure at the club this term. As a result he has been hit out at by the critics and even by Roberto Mancini himself. The manager was recently
caught saying that he felt Johnson had become a victim of his praise and that he has let all the praise go to his head. He also went on to add the fact that he does not feel that Johnson is a world class player yet and still has a long way to go.
Johnson however did not get into any arguments with the manager and has come to the press to state that all he really wants to do is play some football and if he can’t do that at City then perhaps it’s time for him to move on.
The player is reported to have said: “Every footballer has to think about it when the time comes.
“It is still early but I definitely would consider it.”
The thing that is most interesting about all of this is what Mancini has to say about the situation. The manager is reported to have said: “I think he can improve a lot more if he thinks more when he plays”
“He’s a good player but he’s just 23 years old, he’s played 20 games in the Premier League and it’s impossible to think of him now as a top player.
“For this, he must work, he must think, he must work for the team, not two dribbles, two crosses. In a top team you need more.
“If you’re only doing two dribbles you can’t be the best player on the pitch.
“You must do dribbling, score a goal, you must defend, you must help your team-mates.”
Just what exactly the manager is going at is rather unclear; the player has managed to give every time he has taken to the pitch. He is often found helping out with the defence if he can’t help out any further with the attack.
Mancini on the other hand seems to be losing grip and the hold that he has on the City side and as a result might soon see some of the teams top players, including the likes of Johnson walk out of the side due to the managers arrogance.
