EPL News: Andy O’Brien moves to Leeds, Ancelotti looking for new blood
Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that defender Andy O’Brien has sealed a permanent move to Championship side Leeds United.
Brien was currently on loan to Leeds since the end October 2010 and made 10 appearances for the Yorkshire-based club. Bolton Wanderers manager thanked the player for his services on behalf of himself and everyone at the club.
"He is a good professional and I would like to wish him all the best for the future. It is a good move for Andy at this stage in his career and I am sure he will do a very good job for Leeds United," stated the Bolton Boss.
In total, Brien has made 90 appearances for Wanderers and his sole goal came against Champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in April 2009.
Chelsea
Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his desire to bring in some new players in the January transfer window.
With the FA Cup about to start and Champions League knockout stages just around the corner, Chelsea need more depth in the squad and going through with the same squad would be a big mistake.
The manager has however claimed that he is not desperate on bringing in new players and would only sign players who fill his criteria.
"If everything stays okay, without injuries, then we will be able to fight back for the title without any new players. But when the Champions League comes back we need to have a full squad without injury. It is very important Alex comes back fit to play,”
stated the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 coach.
Ancelotti told that the injury to defender Alex is the major reason of looking for new players, as the season becomes tough in February when the Champions League and FA Cup are played.
The manager added that the slump in form is due to injuries to vital players in recent months and they are working to improve the overall quality of the club.
“But if the club needs to make an investment it will not just be for this year but also for the future. We are looking for a young player with experience, a young player who doesn't need to take time to adapt," explained the Chelsea boss.
