EPL News: Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers
Aston Villa
Aston Villa manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier has confirmed that Nigel Reo-Coker’s future at Villa Park will be decided by the end of February 2011.
Reo Coker’s current deal is set to expire by the end of the 2010-11 season and the 26-year-old midfielder has not been approached by the club for a new contract.
The Aston Villa midfielder, who has also skippered http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 Under-21, has been a regular member of Gerard Houllier’s team-sheet and it seems like Reo has a bright future at Villa Park.
The Villans manager also hailed Reo’s performance and claimed that the English midfielder has extraordinarily improved a lot since the start of the season.
Houllier said, “He is a ball winner and gets forward when he can. I like his discipline; I like his commitment and his aggression. I said to him and to his agent that we will have an assessment from the end of February to the beginning of March. But I know
also there are clubs after him because he is a free agent.”
Aston Villa are currently placed 15th in the Barclays Premier League standings with 30 points to their name out of 27 games.
The Villans drew their last match against Blackpool by one goal each at Bloomfield Road. Their next match is against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 at Villa Park.
Bolton Wanderers
The Potters’ boss, Owen Coyle is willingly leaving the decision to his talismanic striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Elmander-c18782 to decide about his future.
The Swedish striker has been reportedly linked away from Reebok Stadium after his negotiation deals with the club failed at the start of the 2010-11 season. Elmander’s contract is set to expire in the summers and the 29-year-old forward has still not signed
a new deal with the Wanderers.
Johan Elmander was Bolton Wanderers’ record signing when he joined from Toulouse for £8.2 million in 2008.
Moreover, the Swedish striker is also enjoying his prime form in the season, as he has already scored 10 goals for the Wanderers. Elmander is also Bolton’s top goal scorer of the season and has formed a lethal striking partnership with the club captain Kevin
Davies.
Owen Coyle expressed his disappointment over the Elmander scenario as there is a huge possibility that the Swedish striker would leave the club in the next transfer window.
“The chairman had a chat with Johan's representative in November/December time and it was a good discussion. I think at that time it was left that they would have a chat in spring, and that was fine because that told me Johan didn't want to leave in January.
Johan's well within his own rights to let his contract run to the summer, which will happen, and then decide what he wants to do.” said Coyle.
Bolton Wanderers are currently placed 8th in the Barclays Premier League standings with 36 points to their credit out of 27 games.
The Wanderers won their last League fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 at Reebok stadium by two goals. Owen Coyle and his men will play their next match against Newcastle United at St James Park.
