EPL News: Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers
Birmingham City
Birmingham City chairman Alex McLeish has insisted that his club will not be inactive in the winter transfer but has claimed that no big signing is expected in January.
He said, "We are not in a position to spend at this moment. We are looking at the loan situation and if push comes to shove then we will see. I'm hoping to add to the squad, whether it's through loans or permanent transfers, but we're certainly looking to
try and add to the squad. They [the board] know that we do need a little bit of help."
Alex McLeish and his men are currently placed 17th in the league with 19 points to their credit out of 18 games. Birmingham drew its last match against Manchester United at St. Andrew Ground and will welcome Arsenal on Saturday for their 19th
league match.

Steve Kean is concerned about his defensive midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vince-Grella-c36176’s fitness problems. The Australian international has been out of action for a month now after sustaining a groin injury.
Moreover, since joining Blackburn Rovers two years ago, Vince Grella has failed to give consistent appearances. Grella has also been unable to make a permanent place in the side due to a number of injuries.
Steve said that Grella could not seem to get a run of games to maintain his fitness level. Steve added that Grella had been unable to do that during his stay at Ewood Park and has always broken down in some way.
Moreover, Defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Nelsen-c31992 has been asked to think seriously about the thoroughness of trying to pool his duties for his club and country. While Ryan is aware he could face a big decision at some point in the future, he is happy to continue fighting
on both fronts for the time being.
The Ewood Park outfit was thrashed by Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United by seven goals to one a month ago. Berbatov scored five goals against Blackburn Rovers to become the fifth player to achieve such a feat in Premier League history. However, the Rovers
bounced back from that humiliating defeat and won against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next match.
Blackburn are currently placed ninth in the Barclays Premier League standings with 25 points to their name out of 20 league games.
Steve Kean’s men won their last match against West Bromwich Albion by three goals to one at The Hawthorns. The Rovers will visit Stadium of Light to face Sunderland for their 21st League fixture on 1
January 2011.
