EPL News: Bolton Wanderers appeal for defender Gary Cahill dismissed by Football Association
Bolton Wanderers’ defender Gary Cahill had appealed against his red card decision for his unjustly getting sent off by the referee when he slapped him with a red card but the latest from the Football Association is that the appeal
has been rejected.
In the match against Arsenal Cahill was sent off the field wrongfully because of an unjust tackle. Bolton eventually lost the match being a man down 4 – 1 against Arsenal.
The Football Association has announced that on the match that took place on the 11th of September against Arsenal the referee’s decision withstands and the appeal by the English player has been denied.
After the English Premier League match the 24 year old defender Cahill, challenged the red card decision by Stuart Attwell when he showed him off the field. He was ruled out of the match after he tackled the Gunner’s striker Marouane
Chamakh from behind.
An official statement from FA has stated, “At a Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Bolton Wanderers' defender Gary Cahill was dismissed. As a result, Cahill's three match suspension will remain
and will be served with immediate effect.”
Now because of this decision by the FA; Cahill will have to be benched in the crucial match to control the mid table against Aston Villa, Burnley and Manchester United.
In the next match Cahill will be playing against his former club from where he started his junior career and later on progressed to his senior, Aston Villa. He started playing for them in 2004 and went on to play till 2008. In that period he played 28 matches
for them.
However in the period he played on loan for Burnley from 2004 to 2005 and appeared in 27 fixtures for them. Also from 2007 to 2008 he played on loan for Sheffield United,, featuring in 16 matches.
In 2008 Cahill came to Bolton Wanderers and since then he has capped in 79 matches and scored 8 goals. Cahill has also featured in a match for England this year.
