EPL News: Carlo Ancelotti expects a long stay at Stamford Bridge, like Sir Alex Ferguson
Chelsea’s double winning manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that he would want to emulate the long career of Sir Alex Ferguson and stay with the club for the next possible 20 years. The former AC Milan player and coach was extremely successful with the Blues last season, guiding the London based club to their first ever double. Ancelotti managed to lead their side to the Premier League title as well as the FA Cup.
However, while talking to the media, Ancelotti claimed that his hunger for more silverware remains the same with the Blues. The manager didn’t want to point out when he would retire but joked that back in 1995, the day he started this job, he thought he would only last 5 years. The 51 year old is still a manger in 2010 and is in love with this job and would want to stay with Chelsea, as long as Sir Alex Ferguson managed at Manchester United. This would be Ferguson’s 26th season with the club, having joined it back in 1986. Ferguson has bagged huge success in his tenure, winning two Champions Leagues, 11 Premier League titles and 5 FA Cups. On the topic of who would replace Fabio Capello in the International scene, Ancelotti claimed that the FA shouldn’t be so biased of ruling out foreign coaches when they choose a successor for Capello. The Football Association of England have hinted towards a possible English man to replace Capello when he retires after the Euro 2012.
''It could be English, it could be a foreign manager, it is the decision of FA. I don't think it has to be necessarily English. There are a lot of coaches with good qualities, not just English”, claimed Chelsea’s manager. It’s been a long time since England have appointed a foreign coach, although many have failed quite miserably.
On the topic of Wayne Rooney’s private life, the manager claimed that he had no plans of controlling the private life of footballer and what they do outside the pitch is their business. Ancelotti added that their private lives should be respected and they themselves can only control it. Chelsea have had their fair share of such publicity following the heinous acts of John Terry and Ashley Cole. The manager claimed that the players should themselves respect the shirt they wear in training of the field but cannot control their private life. The 51 year claimed that he wouldn’t want to be judgemental on any player as anyone has the ability to do anything.
The players should themselves be aware that a lot of young lot is observing the behaviours of the beloved stars and have a social responsibility. Yet it’s not the manager’s job to control that and doesn’t care if the player goes to bed at twelve or eight.
''The private life has to stay the private life – I wouldn't like it if people judged my private life – only one person can judge your private life and I think that is God'', claimed the Chelsea boss.
