EPL News: Chelsea Round Up, Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti lays his insight – Part 3
The Reds were facing real hard financial times and the club was put up for sale. Dirt marred and controversial campaign is how the transfer of ownership occurred from American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett to Red Sox’s owner John
W Henry.
While Henry along with other club associates will be present to see the Liverpool fixture against Chelsea at Anfield this Sunday, they unlike the Chelsea don’t have enough funds to refurnish an entirely new squad and Henry has acknowledged
that.
Chelsea has been often criticized by critics that their fame and power came after their rich owner Roman Abramovich took power and used his money to bring players to his club and reform it better. While technically there is nothing wrong
with this, there is still this moral dilemma if a club should use excessive funds in a club.
The Football Association has brought new rules in accordance to this and it is hoped that they will simplify the matter much more. Nonetheless it has been known this from early in the summers when they were unable to make big transfers
in their club that the London club was under probation of using money after an FA warning that told them not to exceed more than they actually make.
This has lead Chelsea somewhat stray a bit mainly because of the reason that don’t have many reasonable replacements for players, for instance centre backs and veteran midfielders.
Lampard being out of injury and the club not having a midfielder to replace him with calibre in comparison to him is a prime example of this point.
Liverpool and Chelsea have both played 10 matches each but Chelsea is at top of the table while Liverpool is at 16th. Chelsea has 25 points while Liverpool have compiled a demeaning 12. There is a large rift in goal difference
too and that is mainly because of Chelsea’s outstanding attack and habit of scoring too many goals. Chelsea has +24 and on the other hand Liverpool has -4.
The Chelsea manager knows that Reds skipper Steven Gerrard will be the man to mark if Chelsea wants to win the match. The charismatic captain of Liverpool does not only provide his club with assist but goals too, and can stun his opponents
with performances like against arch rivals Manchester United and Napoli.
Last season, when Chelsea won the Premier League title and Liverpool finished with a 7th position, the Blues defeated them on both legs of the campaign. The score at both occasion was 2-0 and interestingly all goals
were scored by different forwards, like Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka.
Now though the Liverpool’s current manager, Roy Hodgson, who used to be in charge of Craven Cottage of Fulham has stated that he is sensing an upset all pundits and experts have stated that the match might be a clean wash unless Fernando
Torres or Steven Gerrard play their cards well enough.
The goal scoring machine along with the left flank of Chelsea is what will give them a big advantage especially because Liverpool and facing trouble on their wings. Though the scales are heavily tipping in favour of Chelsea, it is expected
that Chelsea will have to earn this victory.
