EPL News: Chelsea’s English International Ashley Cole decides to hang his boots with Chelsea
The coveted left back Ashley Cole has declared that he wants to end his career with Chelsea when he finally reckons that it’s time for him to go.
However, before that, the world class player has stated that he wants to win many more trophies with the club and they include the most glamorous of all European tournaments, the UEFA Champions League.
In a recent press release, the former Arsenal player stated that he would like it if he played the rest of his career with the South London club.
Earlier, when Cole had made a switch from North Londoners to Arsenal, many fans had criticised and detested him for running after money as Chelsea were offering the star much more than what he was making.
The media had lambasted against him too and later evidence proved that Cole was making around 80,000 pounds a week with Emirates while with Chelsea he would be making 180,000 pounds. It is said that when Cole’s agent gave him the
news, he nearly crashed the car he was driving. Since then, the Gunners’ fans have had a new nickname for him, ‘Cashley’ Cole.
Now the English International has stated he will remain loyal to the colour Blue for the rest of his professional career. This statement comes after a highly controversial summer where Cole was rumoured to join the Spanish giants
Real Madrid.
It seemed that a deal would be finalized with Cole’s statements coming that he was looking forward to put pen to paper at Bernabeu. The new manager of Los Blancos, Jose Mourinho, had stated that he had special interest in the player
as he wanted to deploy him at the legendary left wing of Real.
Later, the deal was unable to be confirmed so Cole remained at Stamford Bridge. It was speculated that the player might also make a move because of his personal life as he was constantly being targeted by the media after a split
with his wife Cheryl Cole (they divorced in September 2010).
Cole can also feature as a full back and it is this adaptability that gives him such an edge. Cole has stated that he believes he can still play for the Blues for the next 4 years.
The 29-year-old also said that a career also depends on unfortunate injuries, so they will also play a role in judging the time when he will hand over his boots.
While talking to the media, Cole stated, “At the minute I’m just taking it year on year and seeing how the body is, because I’m 29 but I feel like 35 or 40.
“It’s hard getting up in the mornings, but I hope to have another four years and hopefully win a few more medals and win the Champions League.”
About his future, the player stated, “I’ve got three more years at Chelsea and I’d love to finish my career here.”
The Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that he understands the importance and impact the Englishman has on the game. Therefore, he will not be losing the player just because of a wild card or an extremely large bid.
