EPL News: City looking to bring in Hulk (Givanildo Souza)
Big time money spenders, Manchester City have reportedly sent out a number of scouts to Portugal. The reason behind this is so the men sent can get up a close and personal look at Porto’s Brazilian forward, Hulk. The Brazilian has so far been in sublime
form this season and even managed to score a double this past weekend when Porto took on Benfica.
Apart from that the forward has already managed to score nine goals this season. He has also managed to be the player of the month on two occasions, this early on in the season. Hulk is however well aware of the fact that his brilliant performances have
attracted some serious poachers in the form of Europe’s elite, namely from the Premier League therefore he is reported to have said: “I have heard about the rumors of the Premier League, but I am focused on my work here.”
Hulk is undoubtedly one of the brightest talents out there at the moment, however one needs to question as to whether Roberto Mancini and Manchester City need another overly muscular striker, who tends to use his physique to his advantage. The team already
has the likes of Carlos Tevez and the recently added Mario Balotelli to do just that. Nonetheless City have so far managed to score only fifteen goals in eleven games, which means that they are amongst the lowest scoring teams in the Premier League.
According to most experts Mancini should opt to try and change his strategy and try to motivate the players to perform better instead of opting to buy a new striker every time the team fails to score a goal.
Mancini on the other hand also needs to try and get City to perform better if he hopes to retain his job as City’s manager. The board has expressed their concern about the manager in the past and he needs to get his act together if he hopes on keeping his
job at the club.
