EPL News: Fabregas facing fitness race for clash against United, Beckham rules out move to Everton
Cesc Fabregas has come out and confirmed that he is facing a race against time to be fit for the clash against Manchester United which is scheduled to take place on 13th of December, 2010. Fabregas, who has been
suffering from a chronically persistent hamstring injury, was rushed back into action previously by Arsenal for their crucial league ties against Liverpool and Chelsea. However, the midfielder suffered this latest hamstring strain during Arsenal’s two goal
loss to Braga in the UEFA Champions League last week.
Fabregas said, "I don't want to put a date on my return yet, I will take my time. The team did really well without me against Aston Villa, so I will wait until it is completely ready. It is so frustrating, though. It seems when something
like that happens, it all goes wrong at the same time, so you have to be strong, put everything behind you and keep working."
The midfielder was aware of his lack lustrous performances this season even though injury issues were partly responsible for it. He added, "I know I haven't been at my best this season. I started the season really strongly, the first few
games, but after that I had an injury and got into a pattern of missing a few games, and then starting again. So it is better my team-mates play, because they are fitter than me. I will just try to get back whenever I can. My team-mates are helping me a lot
and I am trying my best."
Fabregas almost joined Barcelona in the 2010 summer transfer window but Arsenal successfully managed to hold onto their captain after he returned from international duty with the Spanish national team.
In other news, David Beckham, the Manchester United legend has come out and dismissed reports that he is set to join Everton for a loan move in the January transfer window after the MLS entered into its off-season period. Beckham, who
previously has had successful loan spells at the Italian giants A.C Milan, is currently 35-years-old and he missed out on the English national team squad for the 2010 World Cup after suffering an Achilles injury.
When asked about a possible move to Everton, he responded, “No, I spoke about this few a few days ago when I was in Australia. It is always great to be wanted by different managers and different teams even if it's on loan or a more permanent
spell, it's always nice. I have got great respect for David Moyes from playing with him at Preston. I think he has done an amazing job at Everton, but I am a Man United fan it's too close to home."
