EPL News: Fulham manager Mark Hughes without Bobby Zamora for five months, his strategy - Part 2
It has been highlighted by many experts that Hughes has the ability to draw a match rather than win it. Right now the manager has participated in 5 English Premier League fixtures and acquired 7 points. Nonetheless they maintain the 7th position
in the table.
The reason for that is the increase of quality in Premier League which has ultimately forced the quality and level of play in the tournament.
So far at home, Fulham won a match and drew another. Away the club has won none of their matches but drawn 3 of them and that includes a match against Manchester United.
Critics have been lambasting against the manager since ages for his lack of experience and his capability to prove himself with good offensive strategies. Truth be told the 46 year old man is doing not so bad considering his age and the level of club he
has in his plate to manage.
One thing is for sure, The Cottagers will have to show their A game and buckle up for a tough ride this season if the manager has any chance of succeeding this season.
The Lilywhites will have to out run many other teams on the rise this season and that aren’t just like the old 3 or 4 teams. This time there teams like Newcastle, Aston Villa, Blackpool, West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland and Birmingham City.
This increase in quality teams and competition is certainly going to affect the performance of the club. Their latest match against Blackburn Rovers resulted in a 1 – 1 draw. In the match once again dismissive defensive preparations were seen.
The Clubs next EPL fixture is on 21st September and it is against Stoke City who are at the 17th position in the League. This should be an easy win for the club and this will propel even further upwards in the table.
However for Hughes to be constantly at the top of the table he will need his best men to be in their best form as he stated that if he is still managing at Manchester City and he had access to sources Mancini has, then he too would have taken the club to
their new heights.
Hughes had earlier reflected in a statement that he indeed needed Zamora for the season and his absence would be felt. Zamora made his debut for England just last month in August, in Euro 2012’s initial qualification process.
The injury to Zamora occurred in a match against the Wolverhampton Wolves. Saturday's match resulted in a 2-1 victory but it also held the loss of Zamora. The forward now has been scheduled for a surgery later in the week.
On the issue the former Welsh manager stated, “Bobby's had his operation. He will now be in bed with his leg elevated for two weeks. The operation showed ligament damage so we're probably now looking at five months.”
On the 29 year old Bobby’s future he added. “We want to help Bobby get back quickly and there are no concerns over his ability to get back to the level he was before he got injured.”
Another factor that can shake Fulham’s campaign is the long absence of Andy Johnson from the team. The 29 year old Andrew is also a featured striker in the team and his lack of presence from the team forces the team to be on the back in the attacking department.
So far this has lead the new signing at the Cottagers, 23 year old Belgian Moussa Dembele to lead the attack for them. So far the player has scored 3 goals in 4 matches for the club and with that expectations are high from him.
