EPL News: Full Time Report Arsenal vs. Tottenham - Dramatic turn of events at the Emirates
Arsenal took on Tottenham at home in what was guaranteed to be a hotly contested North London Derby. Arsenal had already beaten Tottenham by four goals to one early on in the season; during the team's Carling Cup encounter therefore they
were looking to repeat the same success in the Premier League.
Arsenal took the early lead in the second half thanks to two goals that were scored by Samir Nasri and Marouane Chamakh. However in the second half; Spurs came back bouncing and managed to score a goal almost immediately after the restart.
This dramatic surge of self belief seemed to throw Arsene Wenger off guard as him and his Arsenal side couldn't seem to contain the resilient Tottenham who were looking like some serious title contenders. Gareth Bale was the scorer of
the goal and he kept his cool and instead of celebrating asked his team mates to get on with it. Soon after Van Der Vaart struck a free kick which Fabregas handled in the box and as a result Tottenham were awarded a penalty. The resulting penalty was then
tucked away by the Dutch midfielder, who sent Fabianksi the wrong way.
With everything to play for in the last few minutes of the match, Tottenham managed to go the extra mile and sneak in a very late dramatic goal. Kaboul was on the score sheet for Tottenham as the defender leaped the highest to tuck in
a glancing header that managed to just beat Fabianksi and sneak its way into the goal. Tottenham didn't seem to care as they were on the verge of beating Arsenal at home for the first time since 1993. As the match went into extra time Arsenal began to pile
the pressure, in the very last minute of stoppage time Thomas Rosicky had the opportunity to make it all level on the night, however the midfielders shot was gathered brilliantly by Gomes and soon after the game came to a close with Tottenham leaving the Emirates
with three points and a crucial derby win.
Arsenal were left frustrated by their own complacency at the end of the ninety minutes as they had plenty of opportunities to kill the game in the first half, but failed to do so. Wenger was left frustrated on the side lines, but he needs
to take some of the blame for the fact that his team just didn't seem to be the same one that took the field in the first forty five minutes. However it is safe to say that we can expect an Arsenal style come back from the Gunners in the coming weeks ahead.
