EPL News: Grant and Arsene comment on London derby, Ferguson confirms Rooney out of action for five weeks - Part 2
On the other hand, the final result was not what West Ham were looking for on the night. Despite putting in a brave performance at the Emirates stadium, the Hammers had to settle for a loss in the end. Avram Grant was not negative with his remarks at the
end as he told the press, "When you come to just two minutes from the end, and it was 0-0, Arsenal almost did not create many chances, because we defended well and played well, so we are very disappointed. We have played a game against a very good team who
just beat us in the last minutes, so we can take a lot of positive things and also from many things which have happened in the past week. I don't want to talk about history, whether things are possible or not possible. We are not in a situation where we cannot
do it - we can do it. We need to win games; we have deserved to win games and will try to do it in the next game.”
Grant’s team who are now favourites to get relegated to the Championship after their abysmal start to the season are now in the bottom three teams of the Premier League. The Israeli added to his comments as he said, “We are not yet in November, so we have
time to do it. There are six or seven months until the end of the season. Even if we were in this situation in April, I would not think it was the end of the world. We are not in a good situation in the league, but we are in a good situation with our performances
so we need to take more points like we deserve. I really believe we can do it because the team have a good spirit and it was a heroic performance today. We know the difference to us winning games is not so big, so let's continue to fight.”
In other news, Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that his star striker Wayne Rooney will be out for a further five weeks due to his aggravated ankle injury. Ferguson told the press about Rooney’s injury after his team’s two nil win over Tottenham Hotspurs
at Old Trafford. Sir Alex also praised his current squad as he said, “The players are not giving up, they are fighting, and it is a good basis for the future." Commenting on Wayne Rooney’s fitness problems, the old Scotsman said, "I think Wayne Rooney will
be out for another five weeks, he'll have to pick up his fitness again. I would think five weeks should be about right."
Wayne Rooney has not played for the Red Devils ever since he was involved as a substitute for Manchester United in their two all draw against West Bromwich Albion on October the 16th 2010. Following his appearance against West Brom, the speculation
about his future dominated the headlines until Rooney signed a new five year contract at the club. If Ferguson’s analysis of the situation is indeed right then Wayne Rooney will miss the upcoming Manchester Derby between Manchester City and Manchester United
on November 9th, 2010.
