Wolverhampton Wanderers did fairly well in their tough test to host Manchester City. City has become one of the biggest clubs on the planet owing to their player signings for the past 2 seasons. The side hosts some of the brightest talents
on the planet and has become serious title contenders since the Abu Dhabi Group’s arrival as the club owners.
Mancini employed an all attacking force up front, in the form of Balotelli, Silva and Adebayor. The manager expected to find an early goal in order to take the lead early on. Mancini’s men found the goal in the 23rd minute
thanks to a penalty kick. Stearman brought down winger Silva in the box and referee had no choice but to point towards the penalty spot. Togolese striker Adebayor stepped up to take the shot and sent goal keeper Hahnemann the other way to find the opening
goal of the match. The visitors deserved the opening lead owing to their impressive possession play and may well have made it two nil in the very next minute. Italian star Mario Balotelli took a shot from distance which went past the goal keeper but was denied
by the frame work.
However, the hosts managed to equalize things within the next ten minutes. Nenad Milijas swept a left-foot volley straight into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. It was a perfect cut-back from Jarvis on the left, who was causing
City real problems from the opening whistle.
City was all over the place in the build up to the goal and was punished for their slack in defence. Kompany should’ve covered Jarvis, especially owing to the player’s impressive afternoon with the side. However, Jarvis was left unmarked
who set Milijas up beautifully for the goal.
At half time, the scores were level and Roberto Mancini should bring in Adam Johnson to add the much needed ferocity on the right wing. Wolves have shown great character in the match and should do the same to last the next 45 minutes.
