EPL News: Hernandez reveals tears of happiness as Schmeichel doubts Anders Lindegaard quality
Javier Hernandez, Manchester United’s star striker has revealed that he cried tears of joy when he found out that the Manchester United were interested in signing him from his previous club in the Mexican football league. United bought
the Mexican centre forward in the summer before the World Cup started in South Africa. Hernandez lit the tournament alight in South Africa after he scored two brilliant goals against Argentina and France.
Lately, Hernandez has earned his trade at United by being forced into first team action due to the absence of Wayne Rooney, as the English striker has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Hernandez revealed his story as he said, "Chief
scout Jim Lawlor spoke to me about a year ago. He'd been watching me play for Chivas and he told me United were interested, so I was very excited. Before that he'd spoken to my father and when my father told me the news I cried because I couldn't believe it.
As a kid in Mexico, my dream was to play for the best team in Mexico and then move to Europe. But to be told United were interested was unbelievable. My whole life has changed. I played a lot of games in Mexico, went to a World Cup and now have this incredible
opportunity at United."
Hernandez, himself hails from a footballing family as both his father and his grandfather were Mexican international footballers. Javier revealed his fears as he said, "I was not getting many chances in the Chivas first team and I questioned
whether I was good enough to make it as a footballer. But my family said I needed to be patient. When you're playing it's about learning to accept the bad times as well as enjoying the good."
The striker has now shifted his focus on helping United win trophies in the 2010-2011 season, a season where they have been above average thus far. Javier said, "The most important thing for all of us is that the team wins - it doesn't
matter who scores the goals. Of course, I want to play as much as possible and to help the team win. If I score goals on the way that's a bonus."
In other news, Manchester United have been closely linked to the Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard. However, their goalkeeping legend, who himself is a Danish national Peter Schmeichel has come out and doubted Andres’s ability to make
it work for United in the goalkeeping department.
Manchester United’s ex-captain who lifted the 1999 UEFA Champions League trophy with the Red Devils said, “We are talking about Manchester United here. You can look at young talent; you can look at young, good players. You don't want that.
You want someone who can go in straight away and give performances in 80 per cent of the games the No 1 keeper will play for Manchester United. Too many goalkeepers have been in and out of the doors. Now, for this team to win trophies, that position has to
be someone who is of the very, very highest quality but also with the right experience."
