EPL News: Jack Wilshere signs long-term Arsenal contract
Arsenal’s young sensation, Jack Wilshere, has become one of the most highly paid young players in football history after he signed a new deal with the Gunners of a £40,000-a-week which will run until 2015.
Recently, Jack Wilshere has shown magnificent form on pitch impressing his fans and critics. The 18-year-old has already engraved his name in the starting eleven of the Gunners since the start of this season. Wilshere is one of the few
Gunners who exceptionally took their chances and proved their worth on the pitch. Wilshere’s new deal signing also shows important endorsement of Arsenal’s policy on investing and retaining their existing squad rather than going for big transfer fees.
The chief executive of Arsenal said that as talent has become more and more competitive in the football world, re-signing a current member of the squad is very pivotal. He added that signing a current member of team is more important than
signing a new player because the subject has already been trained and knows his way around the club.
However, two weeks ago, Jack Wilshere was shown a red card for his rigorous open stud diving tackle on Nikola Zigic, when Arsenal played Birmingham City at their home. He was also handed a three match ban from domestic competition. After
serving a three-match suspension, Jack Wilshere is likely to start for Gunners when they will visit Ukrainian Champions in a UEFA Champions League fixture on Wednesday, particularly as some of the Arsenal senior players are unlikely to travel.
Moreover, Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas is almost certain to miss the upcoming UEFA Champions League match along with Alex Song. Cesc Fabregas featured against West Ham United despite a tight hamstring problem, while Alex Song took a
knock shortly before scoring the only goal of the match.
Both big guns of Arsene Wenger will have further treatment on Tuesday before a final decision is made but it is very possible that Arsene Wenger may not want to risk them for a crucial match against Newcastle United.
Arsenal has already qualified for last-16 round of Champions League for an eleventh consecutive time thanks to their impressive form in which they scored 14 goals in first three matches. They are placed first in their Group, so it is quite
plausible that Fabregas and Song will be rested. With their absence, Wilshere’s return to the squad would surely be crucial and enhance Arsenal chances against Shakhtar.
Later, in an interview, Jack Wilshere said: “I’ve got a long way to go before I can become the player I dream of becoming and I’m sure I’ll keep making the odd mistake, but it is a massive help for me having a special manager
like Arsene Wenger and so many quality team-mates and the unbelievable Arsenal fans around me.”
Jack Wilshere was under the eyes of Arsene Wenger since he joined Arsenal as a nine-year-old.  Even, Wenger was happy with his young sensation impressive form this season and said: “There is still so much more to come from him
and we’re all excited by the fact that he will be an Arsenal player for years to come. Jack is a fantastic footballer with a huge amount of potential, who could be an extremely influential player at the top level of the game.”
