EPL News: John Terry to return next week
The Barclays Premier League Champions expects their talismanic skipper, John Terry, to return against Newcastle United for their 15th Barclays Premier league match of this season.
Chelsea’s defence line has been niggling with injuries, and last night, the Brazilian Alex was forced to play against Birmingham City since the Blues were short of options at the back.
Terry was asked to visit Italy for the check-up of his back by Chelsea manager and it has been diagnosed as the root of the nerve pain John has been suffering in his right leg which had led him to warn he might have to take a break of
several months from football.
Ancelotti explained on Friday that the problem was a tightening of the muscle in his gluteal region, which can lead to sciatica and hinder the nerve.
The Chelsea manager said about Terry that they had to work with Terry’s injury problem. He added that the rumours about Terry missing for one month were not true; the injury progress is to be assessed on daily basis.
Ancelotti also said: “He needs treatment. Every day he’s here earlier for treatment, which is good. But there was good news from the visit in Italy — that it’s a tight muscle, which we have to relax, so the nerve can move without
problems.”
Although Alex played whole ninety-minutes against Birmingham last night, but he would now be side-lined for almost 2 months after going through a knee injury. Meanwhile, Terry’s return next week would fill the gap at the defence at Stamford
Bridge.
Chelsea now may bring on their young reserve defenders or may also call up their on-loan defenders but it appears. However the latest reports have brought on a very different story as it seems that they are going to be signing new defender.
While talking about Chelsea’s talismanic striker, Didier Drogba, Carlo Ancelotti said that the African striker has recovered well from Malaria and has worked really hard in the training sessions.
It is reported that Chelsea are going to buy a new defender in the winter transfer window following the injuries to their defenders and it seems like their new target is young Brazilian sensation, David Luiz. Moreover, Carlo Ancelotti
is also a huge admirer of his former club, Milan’s young defender, Thiago Silva. So, there might be a chance that Italian manager of Chelsea would go on to bid for these both young Brazilian centre halves.
However Chelsea are already missing their skipper John Terry, quite literally, having lost its two consecutive matches in Premier League, one at home and other against Birmingham City at St. Andrews.
