EPL News: Liverpool versus Chelsea match Statistics Analysis – Part 1
The match took place on Super Sunday, 7th November at Anfield, Liverpool, which is the home ground of the Merseyside based club.
They hosted the team from South of London, Chelsea in a much anticipated match as the Reds met the Blues. A chronicle battle between the biggest disappointment of the season and the most praised was to take place and the referee chosen to oversee the battle
was none other than Howard Webb.
The match started and Liverpool blasted away with their typical offensive game but the men coached by Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti were well prepared and gained control of the ball.
In the end for Liverpool it all came down to do the best when they had the ball at their feet and they indeed performed brilliantly, erasing out the age old controversy that teams with ball possession are sure to win.
For Liverpool it was their legendary 26-year-old Spanish player Fernando Torres who became the one man army and destroyed Chelsea defence to score twice.
The first goal occurred in the 11th minute when an acute pass from Dutch star winger met the feet of world class El Nino and the player after impeccable control slotted the ball past John Terry, Ashley Cole and Petr Cech.
The second goal occurred in the 44th minute when Portuguese Raul Meireles ground passed the ball to the coveted striker and he eluded Cole before firing the ball past two defenders and a stunned goal keeper.
