EPL News: Man United fails to deliver yet again- Fergie confirms Rooney for Champions’ League Ranger clash (Part 1)
Manchester United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he has no qualms in dropping out Wayne Rooney for the Everton match as the Red Devils faced a thrilling last minute 3-3 draw against the Toffees.
Ferguson, however, confirmed that he has called the 24-year-old English striker back for the Champions League encounter on Tuesday night against the Scottish team, Rangers. It is said that the player wasn’t played because of two reasons; firstly, because of the dilemma he was facing in his private life after he admitted cheating on his wife Coleen with a vice girl while she was pregnant with his son Kai.
Secondly, due to the fact that Rooney was originally signed in from Everton, a club that he supported since his boyhood. He was such a passionate supporter of the People’s club that once he wrote “Blue forever” on his shirt and revealed it after scoring a goal. Ever since his signing to the Red Devils, Everton fans have been taunting him. They have called him names and teased him about his so-called hypocrisy.
Fergie was fearful that the Blue fans would lambast him and keeping in view Rooney’s hot head, it wasn’t prudent to play him in the match. In the Saturday’s match against Everton, Man United stumbled to a draw when they scored two late goals in the last minutes that resulted in the end score of 3-3. It was one of the most controversial matches of this season. There were last minute goals and as Steven Pienaar went on to score a goal in the last minute, the referee blew his whistle to end the match.
After the match, Everton’s manager David Moyes accused the match referee of not allowing enough time. He claimed that more than 30 seconds were due especially when the Everton players had the chance to score another goal. The whole Everton team though was quite happy at the draw as they had earlier shown poor play in the first half. They started the second half also in a similar way but later there was a sudden revival in their midfield and players started erupting from the midfield, flanks and the wings.
Nonetheless, Everton were playing at home and the swing was in their favor also but still experts and fans are forced to believe that if Rooney was playing in the Man United’s team, a very different score line would have made the board.
