EPL News: Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli out of action after the red card fiasco
Well there are confirmations flying in that the young Italian prodigal striker Mario Balotelli will be missing the derby match this Wednesday; between Manchester City and Manchester United.
He was red carded after an irrational show of emotions which led him to kick with his studded feet on to West Bromwich Albion defender. After this red card it has been confirmed that the player will be missing the next three matches as per punishment.
Nonetheless there is also news that Eastlands are planning a last draw to save their young forward by handing in an appeal against the ban.
In the match the 20-year-old Balotelli had earlier been slapped with a yellow card so he was already signaled to play with precaution therefore the terrible action was all the more alarming.
In proceedings of the match; the good, the bad and the ugly side of Balotelli were seen as the star helped Light Blues in a crucial victory. His violent conduct was inflicted upon Youssouf Mulumbu in a match that saw the Hawthorns being defeated 2-0.
The word from City has suggested that the sentence on Balotelli was ‘excessive’ in accordance to the actions of Mario. Sources have revealed that they will present their opinion in front of the Independent Regulatory Commission.
In a press release the Football Association has stated on the issue, “The FA can confirm that Manchester City FC have today submitted a claim that, following the dismissal of Mario Balotelli for violent conduct, the standard punishment of an automatic
three match ban is clearly excessive.”
Nonetheless under the rules and regulation of FA the player has been found guilty of misconduct and therefore it is expected that the punishment will be reconfirmed for the 3 match ban.
The rules describe that only profane, abusive or offensive language can carry a two match ban and if a goal is denied if it’s scored or there is an opportunity then there is a one match ban.
In the match against Baggies Balotelli scored on two occasions, which also happened to be the only goals of the match. The surprising turn of events took place in 63rd minute when he was sent off the pitch by referee Lee Probert
and there was an expected frustration and anguish seen by manager Roberto Mancini. Later the defender that Balotelli kicked was also sent off via red card after he received two yellows.
The infuriated Mancini argued on the issue, “I absolutely do not agree with the referee about this sending-off.”
He added, “A red card for what?”, still being consumed by his rage.
The boss of Blue part of Manchester stated, “He played a fantastic game, he scored two goals, but the sending off was very strange. I want to know why it was a direct red card. For me this is not correct and the referee must explain.”
