EPL News: Manchester United’s Johnny Evans set to be loaned out
Manchester United defender Johnny Evans might be sent out on loan from Old Trafford so that the 22-year-old might regain his lost confidence.
Johnny Evans was substituted in Manchester United’s 4-0 thrashing at Upton Park against West Ham in the Carling Cup match and the reason behind that was his poor defending. However that wasn’t his most disappointing moment off field as he couldn’t
even get a place on the bench when Manchester United hosted Spanish outfit Valencia in the final game of the UEFA Champions League group phase.
During the defender’s appearance this season, his team has conceded 15 goals in 9 games and it is reported that Sir Alex Ferguson might send him out on loan so that the Northern Ireland international might regain his lost confidence and start the next
season with confidently.
Johnny Evans has already had loan spells at Sunderland and Belgian side Royal Antwerp who are Manchester United’s partners. The 22-year-old has already played 77 times for the Red Devils and admits that this is the first time that he has been excluded
from the team due to his performance.
Johnny Evans made his debut for Manchester United against Coventry City in September 2007 but sadly, his debut wasn’t a memorable one as Manchester United lost 2-0. He made his Champions League debut when he replaced Gerard Pique against Ukrainian
side Dynamo Kiev on November 2007.
The Northern Irish made his Premier League debut against Chelsea when he replaced Nemanja Vidic who missed the match due to suspension. The 2009-10 season saw Johnny Evans with more game time as he deputized the defensive line along with either Rio
Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic. This was the main reason why many believed the youngster will eventually be the heir to Rio Ferdinand at Old Trafford.
The 2010 season saw Evans become a regular fixture in the Manchester United starting XI as Rio Ferdinand was sidelined through injury. He started the campaign unsettled as the Red Devils conceded some cheap goals which led to many experts criticizing
the youngsters’ performances.
