EPL News: Mark Hughes appreciates Fulham’s new style, Roberto Martinez and Mancini mourn - Part 2
Conversely, Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City team also lost against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their match at the Molineux stadium. Manchester City were titled favourites heading into their English Premier League match but their performance
has taken the glint off their relatively impress start to the season. Not only that, the 2-1 loss to Wolves was City’s second loss in a row after they lost their last league match as well against Arsenal F.C by a score line of three goals to nil. Roberto Mancini
was clearly disappointed at his team’s performance on Saturday as they just rolled over to allow Wolves a win after taking the lead in the 23rd minute with Emmanuel Adebayor’s penalty kick.
Wolves played their way back into the match through Nenad Milijas’s goal. If that wasn’t enough, they went on to take the lead in the 56th minute after David Edwards got his first goal for the club in well over
14 months of competitive football. Mancini spoke to his heart’s content after the match as he said, "We only played for the first 25 minutes. We played very well during that period of the game and had four or five chances to score. But then we stopped playing
and Wolves deserved to win this game. It was the worse game we have played. I don't know why we this happened but we must regroup and understand why this happened. Maybe we thought after 20 minutes that it was an easy game.
Mancini blasted his team as he added to his comments by saying, "A team can lose but you can't lose like we did after playing like that for 60-70 minutes. This was the sort of game you have to win if you want to challenge for the title.
You must play all games at 115%. I must understand very quickly why this happened. But the season is long, we started it very well and there is time to recover."
Alternatively, Mick McCarthy was quite predictably very happy with his team’s win over Manchester City. The Wolverhampton manager said, "That result has been coming for a few weeks. We deserved to win today. When you are bottom, but playing
well, with a great spirit, it sounds really hollow when you say things like that. But this performance and result summed it all up for me. Without our team spirit, we would be history. I have been saying that for weeks."
McCarthy reserved special praised for his team’s left sided winger Matt Jarvis. The ex-Irish national team manager stated, "He has been excellent. He is giving everyone problems. Last weekend, he gave Ashley Cole as difficult a time as
he has had and ran the two Manchester United full-backs ragged in the week." McCarthy’s team ended their six match losing run in the league with the win against Manchester City.
