EPL News: Michael Carrick urges Red Devils for consistency after West Ham United defeat
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has urged his side to be consistent in their upcoming matches, if they are looking to regain the Premier League crown. Manchester United have soared to the top of the Premier League table with a 7-1 romping of
Blackburn Rovers in the domestic league therefore are currently top of the table with a 2 point lead over holders Chelsea.
Over years, the Red Devils have hit their top form in the second of the season, which has been the major reason behind their glory in over the past 25 years. However, with the confidence of their 7-1 romping, United may well have gained that form so early.
"We set standards here. They have been set by different teams over the years and it carries on through each season. We want to try and reach those standards as often as possible. Sometimes you can't do it, but when it does come together, like it did against
Blackburn on Saturday, you get the feeling you should be doing it more often. That is what we strive for week after week, to try and get the right performance as well as the result," stated the 29-year-old midfielder.
Manchester United recently lost 4-0 to West Ham United in the Carling Cup, which would be the best way for them to come back after flying high with their Blackburn win. The return of Wayne Rooney alongside Dimitar Berbatov could prove to be the deciding
factor between them and holders Chelsea, who are currently finding it hard to find their brilliant selves. They suffered their second draw of the season against Newcastle United and have already lost 4 opening matches.
Manchester United now travel to Bloomfield Park to face Blackpool in the Premier League this weekend and a win would keep them at the top of the table. Arsenal and Chelsea are the next fixtures for the Red Devils and if they are able to remain undefeated
in those two, they would be instantly ranked as the title favourites.
