EPL News: Neville comments on his injury as Carragher faces three months out with shoulder injury
Phillip Neville who missed out on Everton’s last league match against West Bromwich Albion due to his knee injury should be back for their next league encounter which takes place against Chelsea. It has been a mixed month for Everton but
manager, David Moyes will be looking to make the most of the upcoming games in December as Everton prepare to go charging into the New Year.
Neville spoke to Everton’s official website as he said, "The injury is coming on. It has taken longer than I thought to clear up but I should be back for the weekend. It was stiff after Sunderland and, having played that game, I probably
knew I would miss West Brom but I should be back in full training by the middle of the week and then back in to face Chelsea."
Everton who are currently 16th in the English Premier League table suffered a massive defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion in their last match as the Baggies netted four goals past Tim Howard to win the match
with an eventual score line of 4-1.
Neville commented on Everton’s performance as he said, "I think everyone is disappointed but the good thing is we are all taking responsibility for a poor performance. There is no finger-pointing, no blaming each other and we all know
it is not good enough. Under this manager there is no other way to sort it out than through sheer hard work. The boys have been on the training field again, working hard and we all want to put it right."
Everton’s Spanish playmaker Mikel Arteta would definitely miss the encounter at the Stamford Bridge on the coming weekend as he will start serving his three match ban for the direct red card that he received during the Everton-West Brom
match.
Speaking about Marouane Fellaini’s return to fitness and his subsequent sending off against Bolton, Neville remarked, "Marouane has been missed. He came back for one game and he looked brilliant against Bolton. He looked super fit and
then he got himself sent off. He does need to learn but he is back now."
In other news, Liverpool’s stand-in captain Jamie Carragher suffered a serious injury as he is set to have a surgery on his shoulder that he dislocated during Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspurs.
Carragher has reportedly been examined by Liverpool’s medical staff, the centre back spoke to his club’s official website as he stated, “I'll be having surgery at the end of the week. The average is about 12 weeks. I'd like to come back
before that but I've got to make sure it's right. It will probably be late February or early March when I'm looking to come back. It's difficult for me when I'm injured. It hasn't happened very often, and I'm very lucky with that I suppose, but maybe it's
caught up with me a little bit now. I've been here before with a broken leg which put me out this length of time.”
He added, "It's not easy but you've got to get on with it, and it makes you more determined to get back. I'm sure towards the end of the season when people are maybe feeling a little bit tired I'll be raring to go." Carragher’s injury
has not done any favors to the Red who are already without their inspirational captain Steven Gerrard as well as the Danish defender, Daniel Agger.
