EPL News: Ole terms Ferguson as encyclopaedia of management, Wenger welcomes Gibbs and Diaby to team
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who recently parted ways with Manchester United from his capacity as the club’s reserve team manager has admitted that he would love to come back to Manchester United in a few years time after he has gained valuable
managerial experience. Ole retired from football in 2007 after suffering from persistent knee injuries and since then the Norwegian national was Manchester United’s reserve team coach. However, as he bids farewell to the club that he has been in relation with
for the past 14 years Ole will feel that he is closing a wonderful chapter in his footballing life.
Ole revealed to the press that he had only taken up Molde’s offer of first team management after Sir Alex Ferguson has advised him on the matter. He said, "I am not ashamed of saying that if I enjoy management and that invitation came
in 15 years' time I would say yes. Everyone who has played for Manchester United dreams about it; me, Ryan Giggs, Bryan Robson, Mark Hughes. More than anything, the last few years have shown me you need experience and you need to be the best to be the manager
of Manchester United. How the gaffer has handled the club and managed it is a fantastic example to anyone. He is the encyclopaedia of how to manage and I do daydream about what might happen in 15 or 20 years time when I have the experience."
Solskjaer scored numerous goals for Manchester United during his glorious footballing career at the club but his most famous goal came in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final at the Nou Camp stadium in Spain against Bayern Munich, a goal
that still lives in the memory of old Manchester United fans. However, Ole was quick to recall one of his more humble moments as he charged the length of the field to tackle Rob Lee in order to deny him a goal scoring opportunity in Newcastle’s match against
Manchester United.
Ole spoke to the press about the incident in which he was sent off, as he said “I stepped out of line and he put me in my place in front of everyone. I was called into his office next morning and had to pay a fine. He wanted us to win
but he did not want us to cheat. He didn't want to be associated with that and he was right."
In other news, Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger confirmed recently that his squad had no sign of any new injuries as Arsenal won their mid-week match against Wolverhampton Wanderers by two goals to nil. Wenger told Arsenal’s official online
TV channel, "We could have Gibbs available to be part of it again too. We'll make the decision at the end of the week. He is back in normal training. It is just whether he is fit or not." Arsenal’s manager might take a look at his squad and shuffle the line
up a bit due to the amount of football his team has been playing in the last two weeks.
He said, "There are always one or two changes. Some players have played a lot and we have some fresh, quality players on the bench. Some are not completely match-fit like (Robin) Van Persie and (Nicklas) Bendtner but in midfield there
may be one or two changes."
Speaking about Abou Diaby’s ankle injury, the Frenchman said, "He is having a gradual test. He had the first on Wednesday - that was positive. He has another so we'll see what comes out of it. At the moment the response is good." Arsenal
face Everton at the Goodison Park on the weekend as the English Premier League action resumes once again after the mid-week battles concluded on Wednesday.
