Manchester City
English defensive midfielder Gareth Barry believes the criticizing at David Silva has been very biased. Silva joined Manchester City with a big reputation from his time at Valencia that was only boosted by Spain's World Cup achievement
in South Africa this summer. Yet triumph with the Spanish National team came at an expense, prolonging his summer break to the starting of August.
Little astonishment the young Spanish attacker had been unable to demonstrate his spot-on form until Thursday night's UEFA Europa League victory over Salzburg. Senior members around the Manchester City squad believe David Silva
can be a very significant player this season, and so does Barry, who feels those voices that have been far too fast to judge should hold their tongues.
"Any criticism of David is unfair because we all know the quality he has," said Barry. Moreover Barry defended the Spanish striker by saying that every player needs time to settle in a new atmosphere and Silva is one of them. He
added that Silva has joined Premier League from a completely different type of football.
Barry went on to admire the skills of Silva and said that Spanish midfielder was very impressive in the Europa League fixture against Salzburg. He silenced the critics with a great goal that helped Manchester City to claim a victory
in a very tough away fixture.
In Europa League, Manchester City is drafted in a group of death with some big clubs in that group. Manchester City will also face Italian elite side Juventus. Manchester City are favourites to progress in to next round and even
to win the Europa Cup. A victory on Thursday night thanks to the great strike of David Silva could prove really vital for Citizens European campaign.
Manchester United
Manchester United legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has ruined Gerard Houllier's hopes of a reunion with ex-Liverpool striker Michael Owen. Houllier publicized earlier in the week that he would welcome the chance to work with
ex-English Striker Owen once more following their fruitful spell together at Anfield. Michael Owen's lack of consistent action for The Red Devils provoked suggestions that the ex-Liverpool legend could be on his way to Villa Park in the January transfer window.
However, Red Devils out-of-the-world boss Ferguson is not forecasting to let the attacker leave and has comforted Owen he will play enough games this season. "I'm not aware of Gerard wanting him but, anyway, he's wasting his time
there," Ferguson said. Sir Alex Ferguson also admired the way his thirty million signing Dimitar Berbatov has started the season. Berbatov has been very impressive this season despite not performing well in his debut season at the Old Trafford. Berbatov scored
a hat trick against Liverpool this weekend and helped United to claim a victory by 3-2. He is the only Manchester United player who has scored a hat trick against Liverpool in nearly fifty four years.
Sir Alex Ferguson further added and said that he is well aware of the conditions of Michael Owen. He also said that the ex-English Striker will feature against Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup.
Newcastle United
The newly promoted Newcastle United has recently signed a loan move of French striker Hatem Ben Arfa. Newcastle United were successful in getting signs from the talented attacker despite interest from the elite clubs of Europe.
Magpies' consistent hard work for adding Hatem in the squad showed true colours on Saturday during the 23-year-old’s glittering full debut at Everton. Not only did the Frenchman score the individual goal in a 1-0 triumph with a left-footed rocket, Hatem Ben
Arfa was also straightforwardly the most dangerous player on the field, running through the Everton defences on a number of times. Newcastle United coach Hughton said: "We certainly did have competition to sign him but the lad desperately wanted to come here
and that's probably the most pleasing factor and the reason why he pushed so hard."
